Foundation of the New Civilization
2nd International Symposium - Fundamentals of the New Civilization
Park Study and Reflection in Attica - 29-31 October 2010
World Center of Humanist Studies
The world we knew no longer exists and our daily lives have been deeply transformed. A new way of being for humanity begins to take shape: the first human civilization worldwide. How can it be? What we want?
Throughout history, dozens of civilizations have arisen, they have their moment of apogee and lapsed. Today, civilization is still in force showing signs of exhaustion. Simultaneously, the technological progress allows us to glimpse the world is coming, the world is already here.
But how will this world?
will be a simple mechanical projection of the current civilization?
will be a "free market" globalization, so few take advantage of economic prosperity at the cost of great suffering of the majority?
will be a video-game apocalyptic?
will be a world war with sticks and stones, in the words of Einstein?
will be a kind of Disneyland where human beings lose the meaning of his existence?
None of this can be realized. The human process tells us that humanity is faced with a momentous crossroads where the old paradigms no longer give answers and are no longer useful to guide human action. The human being is looking for a new paradigm that meets the aspirations of a higher destiny, and will not be satisfied that the remedies to be saved from the wreck a decadent and violent.
The World Center of Humanist Studies believes that the new world is as we build it. It is in our hands, those of all humans on the planet, that the signs of the new civilization expressing the highest human values: the resolution of conflicts through nonviolent means, the end of all discrimination on grounds of physical, economic or cultural 's absence of physical, economic, racial, religious or gender, freedom of ideas and beliefs, thought able to consider historical processes and interpersonal relationships and intercultural used an ecosystem for life and not for the unbridled consumption of a minority, a spirituality deeply rooted in the experience of what is human. In short, a culture that puts the human being as the highest value.
The new world can not be designed only on paper but will be built with human intentions and actions. So that they have the direction to which we aspire, we must begin to explore, imagine and dream of the new world order to take the steps that make real.
There are times when the love for knowledge, for progress and for human society brings to their highest level of development. In those moments humanists, where science and knowledge have opened the way, progress has been made to overcome the pain and suffering.
Assuming the spirit of humanist moments and their best knowledge, the Second World Symposium proposes an abstract or non-institutional, but they agree on key points, opening new avenues of research, communication and collaboration among "people of good will, "between representatives of different cultures, beliefs and ideologies, for the foundation of the pillars the new global civilization.
It's time to choose and create, it's time to put our best aspirations and energies in building a civilization so often desired in the Deep: the Universal Human Nation.
